Privacy Policy
Last updated November 2, 2026.
This policy says what personal information Onward Academy collects, why, and who we share it with. In it, "we" means WEG Studio, LLC. We do not sell your personal information.
What we collect
We collect what you give us, and a small amount about how you use the site.
- Signup: your name, email address, phone number, how you heard about us, whether you are a Sitreps member, whether you agreed to receive text messages and when, and the IP address your request came from. We use the IP address to stop repeat signups.
- Interview and questions: what you type in the course interview, saved as a transcript, and your answers about your time zone, ZIP or postal code, work, AI experience and what you want to build. Your LinkedIn address, if you give it.
- Scholarship application: where you work, and your answer about how the course would help you.
- Payment: Stripe collects your card or payment details. We never see or store your card number. Stripe tells us what you paid, when, the payment type and any discount code.
- Course work: your GitHub username, your account settings, the projects and notes you submit, the files you upload, your weekly summaries, your help requests and the questions you ask the course coach.
- Course prompts: during setup you install a small hook on your computer. It sends us each prompt you type to Claude Code inside your course folder, with the folder path and any question Claude asks you. It sends nothing from other folders.
- Instructor notes: the instructors keep notes about your progress.
- Use of the site: which course pages you open and what you do there, so we can see where learners get stuck.
How we use it
- to run the course: sign you in, place you at the right starting point, and send course email
- to give feedback on your work and answer your help requests
- to take payments and give refunds
- to text you about seat availability and promotions, only if you agreed to texts
- to improve the course and the site
- to keep the site safe and stop abuse
AI
We use Claude, an AI model from Anthropic, through Anthropic's API. Claude runs the course interview, drafts feedback on your work, and summarizes how the cohort is doing for the instructors.
To do this, we send Anthropic your interview answers, your submissions and notes, your weekly summaries, your course prompts and instructor notes about you.
Who sees it
The instructors see everything above. Classmates in your cohort can see the projects you submit to the cohort showcase.
If an employer or other organization pays for or sponsors your cohort, we can share a progress report with them. It shows your name and your progress in the course.
We also use these companies to run the course. Each gets only what it needs for its job:
- Stripe: payments and receipts
- Resend: email delivery
- Sendblue: text messages
- Anthropic: the AI features above
- Neon: our database
- Vercel: hosting, and storage for the files you upload
- GitHub: your course repository, which we share with your GitHub username
- Linear: our help-request tracker, which gets your name and your help request
- PostHog: analytics on our public pages
Analytics
On our public pages, PostHog records which pages you view, where you came from and what you click. It does not record what you type into forms, and we do not record your screen.
If you start the course interview, we link your visit to your signup with a scrambled ID, not your email address.
Cookies and browser storage
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 14 days
- A site password cookie, for 30 days, only when the site is behind a password
- PostHog's analytics cookie and browser storage
- Browser storage for your theme, your lesson checklists and unsent form drafts
We email you about your signup, your seat, your payment and the course. Stripe emails you a receipt when you pay. These emails are part of the course. To stop them, write to us.
Text messages
If you give us your phone number and agree to texts, we may text you about seat availability and promotions. How often varies. Message and data rates may apply.
If you text our number, Sendblue passes your message to our team, and we match your number to your signup so we know who wrote.
To stop texts, reply STOP or write to hello@onwardacademy.ai, and we will stop. Agreeing to texts is not required to join or to buy a seat.
We do not sell your phone number or your text consent, or share them with anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you take the course and afterward, so you can come back to your work and so we have records of payments and refunds.
Ask us to delete your information and we will, except what we must keep by law, such as payment records.
Your choices
Write to hello@onwardacademy.ai to see the information we hold about you, correct it, get a copy of it or delete it. We answer every request by hand, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
Security
We store passwords only as a secure hash, keep uploaded files private and limit who on our team can see your information. No system is perfectly secure, so tell us right away if you think your account is at risk.
Children
The course is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Changes and contact
If we change what we collect or who we share it with, we update this page and its date first. We tell enrolled learners by email about any big change.
Questions? Write to hello@onwardacademy.ai.
